I will be travelling in January to work in China, I want to bring my wife with me. Does she need to get a different visa or can she use my visa? She will not be working at the school.

It is no problem. In the visa application form, be sure to add your spouse's information. Make sure that when the school applies for your invitation documents, that your spouse is listed on the PSB invitation so that her visa can be processed as well.
You can view this document by clicking on the link I am providing below. PSB Invitation to Teach in China
Note that under where your name willbe there are five extra name slots, your wifes neame will go in one of those. Again, make sure the school knows she is coming so they put her information on there as well!

There is a teacher at our school who brought her husband. At first he didnt work or teach at the school. He came over on a spouse visa. He is now teaching, and has not changed his visa at all. So i guess its alright.
