I Overstayed My Visa in China!

Help! I overstayed my visa by 6 days, and I have several questions.

1. What if any will the fine be when I go to leave?

2. I am leaving to go home to apply for a z visa, will I be able to apply for another visa in China?

Basically, I am very concerned if my overstay will prevent me from obtaining my work visa which took my school several weeks to finally obtain.

Thanks for your generous advice!

The fine is 500 RMB Per day with a cap on 5,000 RMB. However in todays visa climate, overstaying is not going to bode well for you.
Arrive early at checkin and anticipate problems going through the exit procedures.

When did you overstay?

Was it before or after April 15, 2008? If after, then its likely the window clerk will accept your passport, but it will then get rejected. We just processed a visa application for a teacher who overstayed ten days. He had all the proper invitation documents, his items were accepted and five days later when we went to pick them up, the consul explained that because he overstayed his visa he cannot apply for another visa within 2-years! He can appeal by writing a personal statement why he overstayed, but the point is, they will know that you overstayed.

Did they make you pay a fine when you overstayed? This guy should have paid 5,000 RMB According to the penalty, but he didnt. Still though, they did not grant him a visa.

That was last week.

Good luck.
