REVISED (SEPTEMBER 26, 2008)

PRESENTLY - MOST VISA REGULATIONS HAVE BEEN RESTORED TO PRE-OLYMPIC LEVELS.

1. PROOF OF ENTRY AND EXIT (AIRLINE TICKETS ) ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED
2. HOTEL RESERVATIONS ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED.
3. BUSINESS F VISA - OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT INVITATION LETTERS ARE STILL REQUIRED, LETTERS FROM COMPANIES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. IT IS ILLEGAL TO WORK ON A F VISA.
4. CONVERTING L AND F VISAS - IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CONVERT TOURIST OR BUSINESS VISAS TO RESIDENCE PERMIT STATUS OR WORK VISA STATUS WHILE IN CHINA.

Schools in Guangdong province are advertising that they can convert the visas in October but not September.
I don't know if this is just a desperate act to get teachers or the truth.
Hope someone will keep us updated in October if any official changes come into force.

Thanks.
