Hong Kong Visa Service
Is it possible for me to fly to Hong Kong, get a visa within a few hours and mosey up into mainland China?

No, Hong Kong does not offer same day service at this time, get your visa before you go to China unless you are planning to stay in Hong Kong for at least two days.
